Jon Powell, PhD, is on the Adjunct Faculty in Geosciences at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado, where he teaches courses on natural disasters and paleontology. He and his wife, Linda, served several years as volunteers for Keystone Resort’s Mountain Watch Team helping Ski Patrol keep the slopes safe for skiers of all ages and abilities. Their experiences inspired "Mouse Goes Skiing."
In their free time, they enjoy dog sledding with their team of amateur pups, Aztec, Zuni, and Chaco, skiing, hiking, and rafting.

This little illustrated book is designed to introduce young children to the Skier and Snowboarder Code of Responsibility through the misadventures of Mouse. Mouse has never skied before, but he did watch the Winter Olympics and read a book on skiing. He is convinced he is ready to hit the slopes – after all, how hard could it be?
